WHAT IS LITTLE DANCERS?
Little Dancers, established in 2015 by Velocity Dance Company, is a delightful and creative dance program introducing young children to the wonderful world of dance. As we joyfully celebrated a decade in 2024, we're thrilled to continue offering our specially designed classes in Rostrevor, which not only teach the fundamentals of dance but also incorporate essential developmental life skills.

Our carefully structured term programs are developed by dedicated teachers with qualifications in both child education and psychology. These classes aim to enhance your child's motor skills, coordination, musicality, balance, language, social awareness, self-awareness, and confidence—key elements for healthy growth and development.

We prioritize creating a safe, welcoming, and exciting environment where our little ones can explore and express their creativity. Our experienced teachers greet students by name each week, fostering positive and familiar relationships to ensure every child feels safe and welcomed.

Little Dancers is an excellent starting point for children ready to skip, jump, and twirl into the world of dance for the first time. It's also a wonderful stepping-stone for those looking to build a strong foundation for their future dance journey.

Join us for a fun-filled experience at Little Dancers and we hope to meet you and your little one soon!
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
Our Little Dancers program follows a uniquely designed, structured term schedule created by our dedicated teachers. Each term revolves around a special theme like 'Wild Animals' or 'Colours of the Rainbow,' seamlessly woven into every class. This approach introduces young learners to new theme-based concepts, words, songs, actions, and performance ideas.

We believe that familiarity in a class setting builds confidence and comfort for young students. Our teachers always begin the lesson with a welcome circle, sprinkling some special, sparkly fairy dust to get everyone dance-ready. The classes then proceed with a consistent sequence of unisex-friendly warm-ups, traveling steps, movement-based games, choreography, and free movement time, concluding respectfully with a curtsey or a bow. Content is a mix between jazz and ballet dance foundations. We also blend popular and traditional music, along with using captivating props to make classes engaging.
Repetition helps students quickly adapt to each class and term program, establishing familiarity and trust.
Our passionate team is proud to foster a safe and nurturing environment that actively promotes positive self-esteem, manners, poise, language development, and overall wellbeing.

Little Dancers is an excellent weekly activity that helps develop valuable social and communication skills with peers and teachers. Our classes strike the perfect balance of structure, creativity, and imagination, keeping our little ones engaged, happy, and dancing around the room!

NURTURING INDEPENDENCE
Our classes are designed to foster independence, self-expression, and individuality, which is why we use a 'closed class format' for all general classes.
As experienced teachers, we find that our students are more engaged, actively listening, and participating with less hesitation when in a focused learning environment with just students and teachers. We understand that new students and families may need some time to adjust, so we take positive steps to gradually help new students become independent and comfortable in their own space.

Over time, students adapt positively to this concept, and we are passionate about celebrating even the smallest of victories. We knowingly understand that new students may feel hesitant in an unfamiliar setting, so parents are welcome to quietly sit in the room during trial lessons if needed or preferred.

It’s truly a proud and magical moment when our little dancers build the self confidence and awareness to walk into their dance room independently and get ready for class alongside their teachers.
PERFORMANCE
OPPORTUNITIES
We love hosting 'Open Weeks' and 'Performance Days' throughout the year, typically during the last week of each term. During these times, parents and guardians are warmly welcomed into our dance room by teachers to witness the wonderful progress our little ones have made.
Every performer is awarded a special term achievement certificate to celebrate their accomplishments and the completion of the program.

Additionally, students have the opportunity to participate in optional Mid-Year and End-Of-Year Demonstration Performances. These fun, casual, ticketed events take place at an external venue. More information will be provided during the performance terms.

Performing in front of an audience is a significant achievement, and we strive to make our students feel as excited and prepared as possible!
